Even with his growing influence in fashion, Travis Kelce says finding the right designer clothes in his size can still be surprisingly difficult.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 36, recently spoke to WWD about his experience shopping for high-end clothing and how that has changed as his NFL career has grown.
Kelce said his access to major fashion labels has improved over the years, largely because more designers have approached him as his profile has increased. That has given him access to a wider selection of clothing that fits him.
But size remains an issue.
Kelce wears 2XL, and he explained that one of the biggest challenges is simply getting to the larger sizes before they sell out. His growing relationships with major designers have made the process easier, but finding the right pieces is still not always straightforward.
Despite his increasing presence in luxury fashion, Kelce has not abandoned the streetwear brands he has worn throughout his career. He continues to mix high-end designer pieces with more casual styles, reflecting the fashion approach he has developed over the years.
His interest in clothing has become increasingly visible away from the football field. Kelce has become known for experimenting with different silhouettes, colours and designers, particularly during NFL game arrivals and major public appearances.
That fashion profile has now led to another major opportunity. Kelce is one of the faces of Tommy Hilfiger's Fall 2026 campaign, appearing alongside Gigi Hadid, Frances Tiafoe and Carmelo Anthony. The campaign was filmed in New York, including at The Plaza, and also features Kelce's newly introduced Samoyed.
Kelce's relationship with fashion is not entirely new. His style has attracted attention for years, including his willingness to work with emerging designers and experiment with pieces outside conventional men's fashion. Vogue previously highlighted his interest in distinctive designers and his tendency to use his game-day appearances as opportunities to showcase his wardrobe.
The difference now is the scale of his access.
As his career and celebrity profile have grown, major fashion houses have increasingly sought opportunities to work with him. That has helped solve part of the practical problem of dressing an athlete whose build does not always fit the standard sizing offered by luxury labels.
Still, Kelce's comments show that even a celebrity with access to some of the world's biggest designers can face a familiar problem: finding fashionable clothes in the right size.
For Kelce, the solution appears to be a combination of working directly with designers, getting access to larger sizes earlier and continuing to rely on the streetwear labels that have been part of his style since before the luxury fashion world became a bigger part of his career.
His latest comments also underline how his image has expanded beyond football. With fashion campaigns, designer collaborations and increasingly high-profile appearances becoming part of his public profile, Kelce is now establishing himself as a figure in the fashion world as well as on the NFL field.
