The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is facing a challenging search for a new head coach for the national team following the dismissal of Dorival Júnior. Brazil suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Argentina in a World Cup qualifier, prompting leadership changes within the team. Now, the CBF is looking for a high-profile manager who can restore Brazil’s dominance on the global stage.

Guardiola: The Dream That Won’t Materialize

One of the most ambitious targets for Brazil’s coaching job was Pep Guardiola, the mastermind behind Manchester City’s recent dominance in European football. With his tactical brilliance and ability to build winning teams, Guardiola would be a dream appointment. However, this remains highly unlikely as he is fully committed to Manchester City and has repeatedly stated his focus on club football. Additionally, his lucrative contract and long-term vision with the Premier League giants make the possibility of a move to Brazil even more improbable.

Ancelotti’s Name Surfaces, but He’s Staying in Madrid

Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti was another top candidate linked to the job, with reports suggesting that the CBF was keen on securing his services. Ancelotti’s calm demeanor, tactical flexibility, and experience at the highest level made him a desirable option. However, despite the speculation, the Italian extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2026. His commitment to the Spanish club rules him out as a potential replacement for Dorival Júnior.

Other Potential Candidates Emerge

With Guardiola and Ancelotti no longer in the picture, the CBF is looking at other options. One of the prominent names being considered is Jorge Jesus, the Portuguese tactician currently managing Al Hilal. Jesus has prior experience in Brazilian football, having led Flamengo to Copa Libertadores glory in 2019. His familiarity with Brazilian football and his success in South America make him a strong candidate for the job.

Other possible contenders include local Brazilian coaches who have a deep understanding of the country's football culture. However, the CBF is reportedly still exploring options before making a final decision.

Brazil’s Urgency to Rebuild

With the 2026 World Cup fast approaching, Brazil is under pressure to find a coach capable of leading the squad back to its former glory. The team has struggled in recent years, and fans are eager for a leader who can restore the nation’s footballing identity. The next appointment will be crucial in shaping Brazil’s future and ensuring their competitiveness on the world stage.

For now, the CBF continues its search for the right candidate, but one thing is certain—Guardiola and Ancelotti are no longer in the equation.
