Chelsea Tear Into Brighton as Blues Race 3–1 Ahead at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have made a blistering start against Brighton at Stamford Bridge, taking a 3–1 lead in the opening half of their Premier League meeting on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Chelsea struck three times through Romeo Lavia, Pedro Neto and João Pedro, before Brighton responded through Malick Yalcouyé. The latest live reporting confirms Chelsea's three-goal first-half burst and Brighton's response.

Lavia Opens the Scoring

Chelsea took the lead in the fifth minute after a set-piece situation inside the Brighton penalty area.

Romeo Lavia reacted quickest in the crowded box to put the ball into the net and give the hosts an early advantage.

The goal gave Chelsea an early platform as Brighton attempted to respond.

Neto Doubles Chelsea's Advantage

Chelsea then extended their lead in the 14th minute.

Pedro Neto finished after Morgan Rogers created the opening, putting Chelsea 2–0 ahead.

The second goal further increased the pressure on Brighton, who had started the match with an attacking approach but were unable to prevent Chelsea from converting their opportunities.

João Pedro Makes It Three

Chelsea's third goal arrived in the 34th minute, with João Pedro finding the net against his former club.

That gave Chelsea a 3–0 advantage before Brighton finally found a response.

João Pedro is among Chelsea's attacking options in a starting XI that also includes Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto and Morgan Rogers.

Brighton Pull One Back

Brighton reduced the deficit in the 39th minute when Malick Yalcouyé scored to make it 3–1.

The goal came after Chelsea had established a three-goal advantage and gave Brighton a route back into the match before the interval.

Martínez Makes Chelsea Debut

One of the notable developments at Stamford Bridge is the Chelsea debut of Emiliano Martínez.

The Argentine goalkeeper was named in Chelsea's starting XI following his move from Aston Villa.

Chelsea's starting lineup is:

Position Chelsea
Goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez
Defence Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, Levi Colwill
Midfield Malo Gusto, Romeo Lavia, Cole Palmer, Jorrel Hato
